ABOUT JAS

Jasmine Bertusi moved her first steps in the art scene after graduating in commercial art. In 2002 she began an apprenticeship which allowed her to master the technics of video (she also took part in the realisation of design, art, architecture, documentaries and photography. Most notably, she became familiar with the international artistic avant-gardes and realised significant projects for important institutions. In 2004 she was one of the finalists of “Premio Arte”; in the same year she presented her first solo show at Palazzo Ricci in Rome. In 2005 her photo- murals standed out for a week in the main squares of Rome’s city centre. In 2006, the Pescheria di Pesaro, for its tenth anniversary, dedicated to the artist a solo show. From the year 2007, after more exhibitions in Bologna and Venezia and with the support of LipanjePuntin Arte contemporanea, she committed herself to new trips and experiences, among which it can be mentioned the collaboration with Wayne Maser in the field of fashion and portraiture.She’ s currently working as a free-lance photographer for one of the most popular Italian weekly newspaper realising portraits of public personalities such as Pamela Anderson and Gerard Depardieu, only to mention a few. In 2008 she explored the theme of traffic and pollution realising an installation of five thousand little plastic cars( or matchbox cars) in rows among the Cerere Foundation of Rome with the title:”Fresh air sur terre”. The show travelled to Berlin at Kuma Gallery later on. She never stopped shooting for celebrities and magazines and in the meantime, she had 3 kids. In 2014, Jas Gallery in Paris presented a solo show of the artist, showing her “Paris” serie of architectures, witch were large scale prints on craftpaper. After 15 years working on digital media, and after few years working on handmade compositions, Jasmine presented in 2015 her new Collage Work at the Fondazione Cerere in Rome.

since then she works on Collages, animations, and collaborates with several brands and magazines.

Jasmine Bertusi per oltre 10 anni ha lavorato con la fotografia, sia come professionista nell’ambito della  pubblicità, grafica, produzione televisiva, moda, sia come artista. Ha sempre adottato e coltivato un’attitudine sperimentale nella creazione delle sue opere, ricorrendo spesso a  un processo di  scomposizione e assemblaggio  di elementi figurativi  che ottiene con un’impeccabile capacità tecnica e uno sguardo raffinato.  In  passato il suo immaginario si è dispiegato attraverso ritratti fotografici rielaborati per mezzo della pittura, o con visioni d’atmosfera surreale e metafisica  i cui soggetti sono l’architettura urbana e monumentale –  ricordiamo il fortunato progetto “SopraSottoSottosopra” realizzato ed esposto a Roma nel 2004 –.

 Oggi presenta una nuova collezione di opere che, pur mantenendo il carattere onirico di allora, sono realizzate manualmente, con la tecnica del collage.

 Contro la saturazione di immagini create e fruite velocemente attraverso il web  e le fulminee applicazioni dei nostri agili smartphones, Jasmine ci svela , con questo pregiato corpo di opere, tutta la bellezza e l’esigenza di una creazione lenta e silenziosa, fatta di memorie, déjà  vu  e idee figurate rintracciate al di fuori di sé ma che da sempre, forse, esistono dentro di lei.  La grazia delle suggestioni visive è intensa, così come  profondo e accurato è stato l’impegno di raccogliere e vagliare il materiale iconografico attraverso giornali e riviste d’epoca.
